How it works

Paste HTML into the input box, or drop an .html file onto the converter.
Your browser reads the HTML without running any of its scripts and converts each element to its Markdown equivalent. Scripts, styles and forms are dropped.
Copy the Markdown or download it as a .md file.

Private by design: your file is converted on your device and is never uploaded. The conversion runs inside this browser tab with no server step, and your file isn't saved anywhere. Close the tab and it's gone.

Limitations

Paste the HTML source. Text copied from a page as it appears on screen has no tags left to convert, so it comes out as plain text.
Layout set with CSS (columns, colors, fonts, positioning) has no Markdown equivalent and is dropped. Bold and italics set with inline styles are kept.
Images keep their web address; images embedded as data are left out. Relative links and image paths are kept as written.
Tables with merged cells or nested tables are flattened, and the first row becomes the header row.
Elements Markdown has no syntax for, such as forms, iframes, video and underline, are dropped or reduced to their text.
